Write two categories on either side of the board.
Go through words in each category with the students.

Call up one student from each team.
Get them to face away from the board.
Get one student that is sat down to stand up and show them or point to a word in the book.Â
This student shouts out the word.
The students at the front have 3 seconds to slide to the left or right depending on which category the word is in.Â
If they’re wrong they sit down. Repeat this five times and give points to students still standing.
Change students and repeat.

10 - 15 minutes
Introduce a countdown timer for the students at the front to increase the urgency in their decision-making.
Use a variety of categories and make them more complex to challenge students' knowledge and quick thinking.
Award extra points for correctly identifying the category within a shorter time frame to add an additional layer of competition.
